Science for Babies

My baby books are inspired by, and mainly dedicated to, my baby boy. As he grows, the topics and visual style of the books will grow with him.

For now, I focus on scientific themes and explore ways to illustrate them so they are engaging even for very young eyes.

Newborn babies see the world quite blurry, and strong contrasts are the easiest for them to perceive. For this reason, the characters and objects in my books are outlined with bold black lines that help shapes stand out clearly.

As babies grow a little older, they begin to perceive colours and gradually become interested in patterns. The colour palettes in the books therefore use mainly bright, flat colours, combined with simple textures and patterns that attract a baby’s attention.
